What Aging in Your Ford’s Colony Home Really Looks like

Most people hope to remain in their homes as they age. Far fewer understand what that journey can actually involve when day-to-day life starts to require more support. This webinar is designed to help Ford’s Colony residents better understand that reality, explore the resources available, and think more proactively about how to prepare.

What We'll Cover

  • The often-overlooked transition between full independence and needing support at home
  • What bringing help into the home can actually look and feel like
  • The types of community resources available to support aging in place
  • How home healthcare, non-medical care, and care management differ
  • Why so many families feel caught off guard by this stage of life
  • Better ways to prepare for the moment before it arrives

Why this is worth your time

For many older adults, aging at home is the preferred path. But there is often a gap between the idea of staying at home and the actual experience of doing so as needs change over time. Families are often left trying to make decisions in the middle of a health event, a hospitalization, a fall, or a gradual decline that has been easy to overlook until it is no longer easy to ignore.

This webinar will help residents unpack what aging in the home can really look like, what kinds of support may become important along the way, and how to prepare before support is urgently needed.

This webinar is drawn from Aging Prepared, a broader educational workshop that helps families think through the many dimensions of aging well, including topics such as care at home, planning ahead, and the broader senior living landscape. Because this webinar is focused specifically on what it looks like to age in your home and what it takes to do so successfully, it will not cover every topic included in the full workbook. Still, attendees are invited to download the Aging Prepared workbook if they would like a broader planning resource to explore before or after the session.
